Family life, made simple, now in the conversations you’re already having.
FamilyWall can connect to the AI assistant you use every day. Once it’s connected, you can check the family calendar, update the grocery list, or plan the week’s dinners just by asking. You don’t need to open the app or tap through menus.
“What’s on our calendar this weekend?” “Add soccer practice Thursday at 4 PM.” “Put milk, eggs, bananas and bread on the grocery list.” “Plan tacos for Tuesday dinner, for five.”
What is the FamilyWall connector?
The FamilyWall connector is built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets AI assistants work safely with the apps and services you already use. MCP gives your assistant a secure line to your FamilyWall account. It can read and update your family’s calendar, lists and meal plan, and it can only do that with your permission.
Because MCP is an open standard, FamilyWall isn’t tied to a single assistant. We’re starting with a few of the most popular AI platforms and will add more over time. Check the Supported assistants section below for the current list.
What you can do
? Calendar
- See what’s coming up. Ask about today, this week, or a specific date. Your assistant sees every calendar you’ve turned on in FamilyWall: the family calendar, tasks with due dates, birthdays, holidays, and any Google, Outlook or ICS calendars you’ve connected.
- Add events. Create one-time events or repeating ones (“every Monday at 6 PM”).
- Make changes. Update an event’s time, title, location, notes or who’s attending. For repeating events, you can change just one occurrence, that one and all after it, or the whole series.
- Remove events you no longer need.
✅ Lists
- Check your lists. “What’s left on the to-do list?” “What’s on the Costco list?”
- Create new lists for groceries, chores, packing, or anything else.
- Add items. New items are sorted into the same categories the FamilyWall app would use, and items already on the list won’t be added twice.
- Edit items, including their text, due date or repeat.
- Check items off as they’re done, and delete items or entire lists.
?️ Meals and recipes
- See the meal plan, shown with your family’s own meal names.
- Plan meals. Add dishes to breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack on any day.
- Find your family’s recipes by name and add them to the plan.
- Rearrange the week. Move a meal, or just a few dishes, to a different day or meal.
- Set servings for a meal, and remove meals or dishes you’re no longer making.
???? Family overview
- See who’s in the family.
- Get a quick overview of the week that covers events, tasks and meals together.
- Search across everything, including events, lists and meals, in one question.
Ideas to get you started
- “What does our week look like?”
- “Is anyone busy Saturday afternoon?”
- “Add a dentist appointment for Emma next Tuesday from 2 to 3.”
- “Move Friday’s pizza night to Saturday.”
- “Make a packing list for our camping trip.”
- “Check off paper towels and dish soap.”
- “What are we having for dinner this week?”
- “Plan lasagna for Sunday dinner, serves 6.”
- “Change the piano lesson series to start at 4:30 from now on.”
How to connect
The exact steps depend on your assistant, but they always follow the same flow:
- Add FamilyWall in your assistant’s apps, connectors or integrations settings. If your assistant asks for a server URL, use:
https://mcp.familywall.com/mcp - Sign in with FamilyWall. You’ll be taken to a secure FamilyWall sign-in page. Use the email and password you use for the FamilyWall app. Your password goes only to FamilyWall and is never shared with your assistant.
- Pick your family. If you belong to more than one family, choose the one you want to connect. Each connection covers one family.
- Review and allow. FamilyWall shows you exactly what the assistant will and won’t be able to do. Tap Allow to finish, or Cancel to back out.
That’s it. Go back to your assistant and start asking.
What you’ll need
- A FamilyWall account with an email address
- A family with FamilyWall Premium
- The time zone set on your FamilyWall profile. Opening the FamilyWall app on your phone once sets it automatically. Calendar features and due dates rely on it.
Your family’s privacy and control
We built the connector so you stay in charge.
Your assistant only gets your permissions. It acts as you, with exactly the rights you have in FamilyWall, no more. If you can’t edit something in the app, your assistant can’t either.
What it can’t do:
- Send or read family messages
- Change your account or family settings
- See any other families you belong to
- Edit events on connected calendars (Google, Outlook, ICS), birthdays or holidays. These are view-only.
Your password stays with FamilyWall. Your assistant never sees or stores your FamilyWall password. It receives a temporary, limited-access pass that works only for the family you picked.
Everything is labeled. Every event, list and list item your assistant adds includes a note saying it was added through your assistant, so the whole family knows where it came from.
Your assistant asks before big changes. It’s instructed to do only what you ask, to check with you when a request could mean more than one thing, and to confirm before it deletes an event or a whole meal, or changes many items at once. Deleted items can’t be recovered, so read the confirmation before saying yes.
Connections expire. For your security, a connection lasts up to 90 days, and then you’ll be asked to sign in again. It also ends right away if you disconnect FamilyWall from your assistant or leave the family.
For full details, see our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free? The connector is included with FamilyWall Premium. Your AI assistant may have its own plan requirements for using connectors or apps.
Can everyone in my family connect their own assistant? Yes. Any family member with their own FamilyWall sign-in can connect. Each person’s assistant acts with that person’s own permissions.
I belong to more than one family. Can I connect them all? Each connection covers one family. To use another family, connect again and pick that family.
What happens if our Premium subscription ends? Your assistant stops working with FamilyWall until Premium is renewed. You won’t need to reconnect after you renew.
Why does my assistant say it needs my time zone? FamilyWall uses the time zone on your profile so “3 PM tomorrow” means 3 PM where you are. Open the FamilyWall app on your phone once and it will be set automatically.
My assistant says FamilyWall is disconnected. What should I do? Connections last up to 90 days. Just connect again following the steps above.
How do I disconnect? Remove FamilyWall from your assistant’s connector or app settings. Your assistant loses access immediately.
Can my assistant see our family messages or photos? No. The connector covers calendars, lists, meals and recipes only.
I asked my assistant to do something and it didn’t work. Your assistant will tell you what worked and what didn’t. If something still looks wrong, check the FamilyWall app, which always shows the latest. You can also contact FamilyWall Support.
